Escambrón is the only public beach in our capital city of San Juan located in a historic national park that formed part of the First Line of defense of the old city for over 400 years under the Spanish Empire. It’s a popular recreational park for locals and tourists alike conveniently located in the metropolitan area; only minutes from Old San Juan and the best restaurants and hotels in the city.

The Marine Park has an interesting bottom composition with natural reef formations home to a diverse and abundant amount of marine life, over 200 artificial “Taino Reefs”, the sunken “Fish Protection Wall”, the locally know “Labyrinths” with natural reef caverns and formations, and the “City of Atlantis” with Roman Columns, statues, benches and ship-shaped structures placed underwater inside the safely protected bay. Fish are very used to divers, including yellow tail snappers, damselfish, grunts, blue tangs, green turtles, and the occasional manatee swimming around the visiting divers.
